Google Resources
Google is more than just a search engine. Google has been developing a lot of free tools and online applications that are available to you by creating and using a Google login. I’ve had a Google mail (gmail) account for several years – since way back when it was by invitation only and you had to bribe your friends to use one of their precious invites on you. I used Blooger for a several of years for our personal family blog that we use to share updates on our lives and random thoughts with our family and friends.
Here are two cool Google tools that I have recently started using and think you might find helpful:
iGoogle
I use this as my home/start page in my web browser. You can customize it with weather, news, gmail, calendar, and much more.
GoogleReader
This is an easy way to keep up with your RSS feeds – in other words, the blogs and websites that you want to see new posts or updates on. You can add a “gadget” to your iGoogle page that will show unread feeds and allow you to read those new feeds right on your iGoogle page or click to go to GoogleReader. I was using Outlook 2007, but so far I find this to be much easier. I also use GoogleReader in the web browser on my cell phone to read blogs.
