God Knows

I cannot say how much I am loving this series we’re doing in Hebrews.  Having an Old Testament studies background, I love seeing all the imagery in this book.

This past weekend we were in Hebrew 2:16-18.  There we saw that Jesus’ purpose in becoming human was to identify with us.  He experience all emotions and temptation.  Not that I didn’t say sin.  Temptation is not sin.  What we do with temptation can turn into sin.  Jesus knows our pain, feelings of betrayal, loss, death and more.  He had to be made like us to be a merciful high priest, a mediator between God and us.

Jesus is able to empathize with us, not just sympathize, because he’s been through everything we have.  We need help through our temptations and he knows the best way through every one.
