About me

So who am I?

First of all, I am a wife, married to my high school sweethart, Joshua. Second, I’m a mom to an adorable lil’ guy, Jonathan. We live near Charlotte, North Carolina. Like just about everyone else in Charlotte, we’re transplants. We moved to Charlotte over four years ago from Los Angeles for my husband’s job.

Third, I’m the Communications Director at Southbrook Church. I’ve been on staff for four and a half years, but I’ve been in this position for over two years. My formal education is from Anderson University (BA in Bible) and Talbot School of Theology (MA in Old Testament Studies), but I’ve always been interested in systems and technology. God has wired me to be an armorbearer and a support person. I enjoy helping others reach their goals by making them more efficient, so I’m loving my role at Southbrook. I oversee internal and external communications. I work on the content for our website and all church publications. I assist various ministry departments with their communications related needs and try to bridge the gap between ministries to reduce the “silos”.  I function as the database administrator. I also oversee IT with the help of a team of a contract IT support company – they do the real heavy lifting. If it is in anyway communications or IT related or could possibly be considered such, I’ve probably got some role in it in some way.

I’m not a formally trained communications or IT person so I’m learning as I go from a lot of people who are way better at this than I am. See my links page for some of the blogs that I read and places that I get info and inspiration.
